INPACE and GANANA Workshop Explores EU–Indo-Pacific Cooperation in HPC and AI at HPCAsia 2026

In January 2026, INPACE and GANANA jointly organised the workshop “Bridging Continents: HPC/AI Cooperation Across Europe and the Indo-Pacific” during SCA/HPCAsia 2026 in Osaka, Japan. The conference brought together leading HPC researchers, academics, technology specialists and industry representatives for four days dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Quantum Computing and the Future Society.

The workshop gathered participants from Europe, Japan, India, Singapore/ASEAN, Korea and Australia to assess the current landscape of cooperation in high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) across the EU–Indo-Pacific corridor. The session focused on identifying practical enablers and barriers to cross-regional collaboration rather than showcasing technologies.

Key insights and recommendations from the workshop are summarised in the report on the INPACE Hub, prepared by Dr. Rossen Apostolov, INPACE HPC Thematic Working Group Leader, which provides a snapshot of regional perspectives and outlines potential directions for future EU–Indo-Pacific HPC and AI cooperation.
