Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) is a consulting firm adept in both private and public sectors, specializing in fostering innovation, enhancing competitiveness, and facilitating growth for clients. With offices in Azores, China, Spain, USA, and SPI ventures, SPI also collaborates with the European Business & Innovation Network (EBN) in Brussels.
SPI’s global role as an innovation facilitator, rooted in strong science and technology expertise and close ties to development, enables worldwide operations and expansion. Leveraging partnerships with companies, universities, research centers, and international organizations such as the European Commission, SPI delivers high-value innovation services across diverse sectors.
What is your organization’s role in the project? What unique contribution does it bring to the team?
SPI leads Work Package 4 in the INPACE project, focusing on empowering the Hub through data collection and analysis, facilitating knowledge exchange.
SPI profile and its entrepreneurial approach is a unique asset in supporting INPACE in the advancement of science and technology and digital partnerships, while creating value. Additionally, SPI has extensive experience and good grasp of strengthening collaboration between EU and Asia cooperation that can be seen through its offices in Asia and previous projects like Southeast Asia IPR Helpdesk, ERICENA, EURAXESS Worldwide, PACE-NET Plus, YAKSHA, SEA-EU-NET II, and Saraswati 2.0. This positions SPI well to contribute to INPACE’s goal of providing evidence-based materials to support future cooperation and create international partnerships that foster research, technology transfer and alignment in policy strategies among the target countries.
How do you think INPACE will contribute to the digital landscape in the EU and Asia?
INPACE will boost Digital Partnerships with Japan and the Republic of Korea and Singapore, and facilitate Technology Transfer and Cooperation (TTC) with India, promoting a more widely collaboration between the European Union and Asia.
The strategic outcomes generated by leveraging analytical work and collecting different strategic priorities in the four Asian countries will facilitate dialogues among leading experts from Europe and Asia promoting digital innovation and knowledge exchange, as well as better foundations for practical implementation and commercialization of key digital technologies.
How can the EU and Asia strategically collaborate to forge impactful partnerships that foster innovation in the digital space on a global scale?
The European Union and Asia have the opportunity to collaborate and achieve relevant synergies by different means enhanced by INPACE. By fostering dialogues where strategic needs are met, EU and Asian Countries will create opportunities to scale technologies, attract talents, enhance R&D cooperation, encourage public-private partnerships, support innovation hubs, and align policies, standards, and investment strategies. Consequently, Europe and IndoPacific regions can jointly address global challenges and unlock opportunities for sustainable growth for a competitive edge in the digital economy on a global scale.
