Please briefly introduce your organization. 

Sejong University (SJU; Korean: 세종대학교) is a private university located in Seoul, South Korea. It is recognized as one of the top private universities, and renowned for its strong programs in computer science, cybersecurity, AI, hospitality & tourism management, and animation. Also, it is at the forefront of leading various large-scale research projects in the area of smart city, cybersecurity, military & defense, and aerospace. Recently, Sejong University has taken the 76th spot in Asia and ranked No. 12 in Korea in the 2024 QS World University Rankings for Asia. 

What is your organization’s role in the project? What unique contribution does it bring to the team? 

Sejong University plays a supportive role in the INPACE project by connecting a variety of South Korea’s ICT experts with consortium members and facilitating collaboration. Particularly, Sejong University has expertise in leading research and development related to smart cities, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G/6G, along with international standards leadership. The university plans to contribute by linking various topics discussed in the consortium with these standards. 

How do you think INPACE will contribute to the digital landscape in the EU and Asia? 

Networking among experts plays a crucial role in defining and shaping the digital landscape between the EU and Asia. INPACE connects top experts in key technological areas that define the digital landscape, providing them with various networking opportunities. Through these interactions, it is expected to identify both differences and commonalities in the digital landscapes of Europe and Asia, leading to the development and advancement of various collaborative projects.

How can the EU and Asia strategically collaborate to forge impactful partnerships that foster innovation in the digital space on a global scale? 

INPACE members aim to harmonize regulations to facilitate the easy exchange of digital data and services among member countries. Additionally, INPACE plans to establish R&D centers focusing on technologies such as 5G/6G, AI, blockchain, and IoT. It also seeks to create ecosystems that support startups, potentially through digital innovation funds. Moreover, INPACE enhances understanding by organizing workshops and conferences. Finally, it uses its platform to connect with partners, share knowledge, and promote joint ventures.
