What is your organization’s role in the project? What unique contribution does it bring to the team?
As contributor of Work Package 5, Martel helps the leader of the package, Digital4Planet, with the impact maximization of the project. Martel will support the creation of multimedia content to effectively disseminate the activities and results of INPACE across the relevant target audiences and maximize the project’s visibility and reach. Furthermore, Martel is leading two Thematic Working Groups, namely Digital education and skills in Cluster 1, and Cloud-Edge-IoT in Cluster 3. This work aims at bringing experts from both the EU and the Indo-Pacific region together and creating knowledge exchange and a strong community on these topics.
How do you think INPACE will contribute to the digital landscape in the EU and Asia?
The INPACE project will serve as a hub for cooperation and innovation across the EU and the four Asian partner countries (India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea). By joining policy and technical topics and spanning over a wide variety of significant themes for global research and innovation, as well as important for the joint strategy and international cooperation of all the involved countries, INPACE will bridge initiatives and foster collaboration throughout Europe and the Indo-Pacific region. The INPACE project’s Thematic Working Groups tackle a broad spectrum of topics, all of which are highly promising and pertinent to the rapidly evolving digital landscapes of the EU, India, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
How can the EU and Asia strategically collaborate to forge impactful partnerships that foster innovation in the digital space on a global scale?
The strategic cooperation between Asia and Europe is a topic much larger than the INPACE project. It needs to rely on a shared basis of respect, understanding, trust, and a certain alignment of political and economic goals even before we can start talking about the digital and technological joint plans and actions. In the realm of strategic cooperation, such as within the INPACE Thematic Working Groups, it is imperative to maintain agility and identify both areas of convergence, where a unified stance is feasible and beneficial. For example, what is the common baseline on multifaceted topics? However, it is equally essential to acknowledge and navigate divergent priorities, tactics, and implementation approaches among partner nations. For these latter subjects, it is crucial to devise collaborative strategies that respect each country’s unique characteristics, ensuring adequate compatibility and interoperability.
