Please briefly introduce your organization. 

The Business and Technology University (BTU) is a dynamic higher educational institution in the country of Georgia, strongly focused on facilitating innovation in education, promoting the use of digital technologies and generating social impact to the benefit of local communities in the country. Founded as a part of the Silicon Valley Tbilisi initiative, BTU has so far engaged more than 7,000 students in academic life. It unites University, School, Entrepreneurship Center, iOS and Android, Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, Microsoft, Blockchain and Renewable Energy Labs. The university’s scope is strongly oriented on delivering quality education and innovative training in Business, Entrepreneurship and Technologies. The university portfolio displays 4 ongoing Bachelor’s level programs, 3 Master’s, 2 PhD and 8 international double degree diploma programs. All these curricula emphasize the application of information technologies, smooth digital experience, and strong information literacy skills.  

What is your organization’s role in the project? What unique contribution does it bring to the team? 

BTU plays a vital role in INPACE as an associated partner. Leveraging its expertise in fostering innovation and digital technology, BTU contributes by infusing the consortium with fresh perspectives and practical insights from the South Caucasus region. BTU’s unique contribution lies in its emphasis on marrying business, entrepreneurship, and technology within the academic sphere. With a focus on innovative education and the promotion of digital literacy, BTU brings to the table a diverse array of resources, including state-of-the-art labs and a robust curriculum spanning various levels of education. Also, BTU’s involvement enriches the project with its experience in driving social impact and engaging local communities, thereby ensuring that the INPACE initiatives resonate globally as well as at the grassroots level.

How do you think INPACE will contribute to the digital landscape in the EU and Asia? 

We are confident that INPACE is poised to revolutionize the digital landscape in both the EU and Asia by fostering unparalleled collaboration and innovation. By leveraging its three-pillar approach—policy dialogue, technology deployment, and advancement of key technologies—INPACE will not only facilitate the implementation of Digital Partnerships but also drive sustainable development and societal well-being. Through thematic working groups and expert-level discussions, it will generate strategic insights and actionable solutions, ensuring that digital advancements are aligned with social and humanistic values.

How can the EU and Asia strategically collaborate to forge impactful partnerships that foster innovation in the digital space on a global scale? 

Strategic collaboration between the EU and Georgia through the INPACE project has the potential to create powerful partnerships that drive digital innovation worldwide. By tapping into Georgia’s growing tech scene, led by institutions like BTU, the EU can encourage programs for sharing knowledge, teaming up on research, and supporting tech startups. Harmonizing regulations between the EU and Georgia can make it easier for startups and tech companies to enter new markets, boosting investment and trade across borders. Together, we can invest in cutting-edge tech areas like AI, blockchain, and renewable energy. By promoting exchanges and training in digital skills, we can build a skilled workforce ready to lead digital innovation. Creating platforms for ongoing communication between government, academia, and industry will ensure lasting collaboration and tackle shared digital challenges, ultimately strengthening global competitiveness and fostering sustainable growth.
